Supporting an online service model for Voluntary Action Islington

Like many civil society agencies in an era of funding cuts, Voluntary Action Islington is under increasing pressure to raise income through new sources.

Public Life’s new website for this North London voluntary sector support agency (or Council for Voluntary Services, CVS) helps to provide a much more tangible link with a range of services offered, including income generation schemes such as room hire and desk rental.

It also provides a clean and direct support interface for the agency’s local clients, with clear signposting to a range of services, such as fundraising, governance and premises support, and news and policy updates for members.

Voluntary Action Islington’s new online presence places it at the front rank of CVS websites and hopefully shows the way for other support agencies struggling to adapt to a changing environment.

Voluntary Action Islington’s new website went live in October 2010.
