The new Camden website aims to make more than 300 council services easily accessible for visitors, businesses and the general public.
As a sector leader in the provision of online services, Camden wanted to maintain its position as well as establish an up to date new brand. The redesign provided a fresh visual style, revamped information architecture and a joined up brand and publishing strategy for adoption by the internal team.
The design borrows techniques from the commercial sector to “sell services” to citizens and the publishing cycle is driven by campaigns calendar that is shared across the councils marketing departments.
Although the site is largely structured around the LAWS category list, particularly important services, such as parking, are given their own home pages, while a number of special interfaces have been created to serve “communities of interest”, such as older people and people concerned with environmental issues. These sections, called “joined-up guides” pull in content from across the site under a single subject or theme.
Key sections of the site were comprehensively user tested to ensure optimum levels of comprehension and usability.
